About
mostlydifferent.com is a shop/shenanigannery run by me, Alex Sramek, composer/clarinetist/computer-scientist/conductor. Dismayed with the significant trouble I’ve had as a performer trying to give publishers my money in exchange for sheet music I want to play, I determined that I want to self-publish my music, to make it bleedingly easy for interested people to play it. That, and I have some cool designs for T-shirts that are music-related but more sophisticated than “I’m a fermata… hold me” (with all due respect), and a few non-musical offerings as well.
So there you are. Here I sell things. I’ve been writing music since 2002 or so, and started setting up shop in 2008. I hold a masters degree in clarinet performance and composition, with bachelor’s degrees in composition and computer science. With any luck, people will like the cool stuff I’m selling enough to pay off my imminent student loan debt. For more about me, see my bio on the main site, mostlydifferent.com.
Currently, the shop is a one-man operation. Just me, sole proprietor. I prepare and print the music; I have a supplier that prints the shirts for me. If (when!) sales take off dramatically, I’ll most definitely hire some cool employees and open up a fashionable storefront, and perhaps a chamber music hall. For now, though, just me. I have a computer day job, and have set aside a chunk of time every week to run this lovely shop. More business = more time spent running the shop = quicker order turnaround… so if you want your stuff more quickly, tell your friends!
